Chelsea Consulting and it’s subsidiary Performance Advantage offer a scholarship/internship position to a university student who is aiming at a career in Management Consulting. This position is aimed at students in a 3rd or 4th year undergrad or a early level Master’s student.
The student will participate in a structured training program/apprenticeship which will include:
- a formal and structured mentorship program
- formal and accredited training including attendance at a three day bootcamp (CMC Fundamentals) or access to one of the university certificate programs that we offer
- presentation training
- ability to "shadow" one or more senior consultants in various activities (time and assignments permitting)
- student membership for one year in CMC Canada
- for the right candidate there will also be an opportunity to be a credited researcher or even co-author on one or more published papers (again, this depends on the skills and abilities of the candidate)
- other events and opportunities depending on schedules, availability and interest
All of this will be provided at no charge via a special scholarship from our firm (Chelsea Consulting).
There will be a work component to this program. Up to 10 to 20 hours of work assignments which will include research projects, data analysis and writing assignments. Although our firm is a technology firm, these assignments will be research based, emphasizing marketing and sector based analysis. While this is an apprenticeship and not an employment opportunity, where the work is conducted with our clients we will will require that the client provide funds for an an honorarium based on the hours required.
These assignments will be structured to enrich consulting skills and qualify as consulting assignment work experience for those pursuing membership in the CMC and the CMC (Certified Management Consulting) designation.
We have an opening for a student this program and are taking applications over the coming weeks. While we appreciate that there is very little notice but time is of the essence as we have training courses opening up in late February. We also have some potential and interesting "real world assignments" that would lend themselves to the requirements of this program.
There will be no guarantees of placement at the end of this program, although we have on two occasions offered positions to interns and students. We will provide assistance in resume development and coaching on interview skills.
Applicants should:
- be seeking a career in consulting and ideally seeking a CMC or CMA designation
- have superior analytical skills
- have strong communications skills
- possess a highly developed work ethic
This is a professional program conducted in a real working environment. As such, it will require some time commitments. Since we are offering this to students, we will attempt to make the schedule and work assignments flexible enough so that they do not unduly conflict with other academic programs.
Please apply in writing with a resume and a cover letter stating why you would be a good candidate for this program to:
